New Transplants in the Garden
I have gotten some of my transplants out into the garden this week, between the rains. This is a new box this year made by Mel’s rules. The grid lines are cotton twine that can be composted at the end of the year.
The visable plants are: Romaine Lettuce, Prize Head Lettuce, Early Jersey Wakefield Cabbage, Black Seeded Simpson, May Queen Lettuce (not doing well). There are also carrots, Swiss Chard, and radish seeds planted.
It will be a couple more weeks, before the peppers and tomatoes go out. I have all the supplies needed for a nylon trellis. I’ll show you how in the next week.
Nice pictures.
A question: how are you fastening the twine to the wood…?? thumbtacks ?? staples
Looking good! You are following Mel’s ways very nicely. I have square foot gardened for years but I never used twine or strips of wood to mark the squares. In Mel’s new book he says that without marking the squares, ITS NOT REALLY SQUARE FOOT GARDENING.
So good job doing it. Mel would be proud.
